RONKONKOMA: 19-Year-Old Critically Injured After Car Accident by Knickerbocker Avenue

DRIVER CRITICALLY INJURED AFTER VEHICLE GOES AIRBORNE

RONKONKOMA, NEW YORK (March 12 2017) – Police are trying to determine what caused an accident on the Long Island Rail Road early Friday morning, according to Patch.com.

Police are saying that the woman was driving a 2002 Kia Optima and crashed near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue.

Police are saying that the car struck an embankment before going airborne. The car then collided with a piece of snow-fighting equipment.

The driver was transported to the Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center. It is possible that a defect in the road may have contributed to the crash.

This is one of the things that investigators should look into. Embankments that send vehicles airborne are dangerous.

Hopefully, police will take steps to prevent this sort of accident from happening again in the future.
