LISTERIA OUTBREAK LEAVES ONE PERSON DEAD

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (March 12, 2017) – A creamery in New York has been linked to a least one death after a resident of Connecticut was sickened by Listeria. Listeria is fairly rare and is caused by bacteria that enters the dairy products being sold. Those that are sickened by listeria typically have muscle aches and fever. Symptoms may not show up for several weeks. People at all ages can become sick. Elderly people and young children are at greater risk of dying due to the disease. Police are still trying to identify the person that died from the illness. At least three other people have also died. A recall has been issued for the products that are likely to be at the root of the problem.
