FATAL ACCIDENT REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY (September 29, 2016)
A speeding commuter train killed at least one person and injured over 100 after it crashed into a train terminal, according to NBC.com Authorities have been able to identify the woman that was killed in the crash as Fabiola Bittar de Kroon. Fabiola Bittar de Kroon was struck by falling debris after the speeding commuter train crashed into the station. She had previously worked at SAP, an international business software company, in the company’s legal department. The scene of the accident was completely chaotic. The train crashed through a series of barriers and took down an internal wall at the station. Many riders were able to free themselves by breaking train windows. Governor Chris Christie has stated that there is no reason yet to suppose the crash in Hoboken was anything other than an accident. New reports are coming out that the train involved in the accident lacked auto-breaking capacities. Jersey City Medical Center is said to have taken in 66 patients 53 of which were released after being treated. The remaining patients were listed in “guarded condition.” Hoboken University Medical Center has given treatment to 23 patients. Of those 23 patients 16 were released. At least one of the 7 patients that remained at the hospital was listed in critical condition.
