MALFUNCTIONING GAS LINE OR PROPANE TANK MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAGIC ACCIDENT MASONVILLE, NEW YORK (July 16, 2016)
A man was seriously injured in a house explosion after he was attempting to ignite a propane water heater at the home’s basement, according to 12 News. Police have been able to identify the man injured when the propane tank exploded as Shayne Charles. A woman who was outside the house when the accident took place also sustained injuries. She has been identified as Kerry Vaccaro. There was also a dog on the premises that was able to make it out safely. The initial explosion caused the house at 3949 State Route 206 to catch fire. Shayne Charles was transported out of the scene in critical condition to the hospital. All of the facts about the house explosion are still coming out, but there may be some liability on the part of the gas company. The majority of explosions involving propane tanks involve some sort of malfunction with either a gas line, an appliance or the propane tank itself.
