CRUISE SHIP MAY BE LIABLE FOR DROWNING ACCIDENT BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY (July 1, 2016)
An 8-year-old boy is recovering and in critical condition after nearly drowning to death in the swimming pool on the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Sea Cruise Ship, according to Fox News. (map) Officials are saying that the boy found unconscious in the pool was there for nearly 18 minutes before being rescued. The medical team on-board treated the boy until he was put on life-support. Authorities have been able to identify the boy as Prince Adepoju from Maryland. After the boy was discovered unconscious, the captain of the ship turned the ship around and went back to harbor at Bayonne in order to dock. A team of NYPD, FDNY and boats awaited the cruse ship as it returned to harbor. The boy was later transported to the Staten Island University Hospital. The identity of the boy remains unknown at this point, but reporters are saying that he was from the Netherlands and was traveling with a group of 49 other people. This is not the first time that there has been a drowning accident aboard a Royal Caribbean. In December of 2015, an 8-year-old drowned to death on the Royal Caribbean ship, Liberty of the Seas, as it was making its way to central America.
