TORRINGTON STATE PARK MAY BE LIABLE IN ACCIDENT
TORRINGTON STATE PARK, CONNECTICUT (June 27, 2016 ) – A 4-year-old boy died in a tragic drowning accident after swimming in Burr Pond in a roped-off-area, according to patch.com. Authorities have been able to identify the boy that died as Edison Batista from the Bronx, New York. Edison was found dead at 4:45 PM during a time when there should have been a lifeguard on duty. Lifeguards at the park are supposed to remain on duty until 6:00 PM on Sundays. However, environmental officials remain unsure if there were actually lifeguards on duty at the time of the swimming accident at Burr Pond. Lifeguards attempted to save the child from drowning, but were unsuccessful. He was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
